The Sabres continue to get healthy for the home stretch of the season, as they should be welcoming back Hank Tallinder against the Rangers Saturday night.
What is still hurting this team however is offensive production, and without Thomas Vanek in the lineup, they are missing some serious power. It goes to show you though the lack of scoring ability on this team, or the amount of players in a funk. Jochen Hecht and Jason Pominville are having horrible years.
If Darcy Rieger is serious about winning and gets the green light from upper management, he should be considering a forward that is going to help generate offense – but it also depends on how the Sabres are going to look at this season, one last step in the rebuilding process, or the chance to make a run again. The problem exists though that the organization falls in love with its players, and continues to think it has what it takes to win the Stanley Cup. Until the Sabres can break that mold however, the only banners they raise downtown will be conference champions at best.
