The Sabres beat the struggling New York Rangers last night 4-2. The team played very well in an effort to regain some ground in the Eastern Conference standings.
Just about two minutes into the third period they lost All Star Goaltender Ryan Miller indefinitely. Miller twisted his ankle after colliding with Ranger forward Scott Gomez:
While Scott Gomez is not the type of player known to run at goaltenders in this manner, from the perspective of the way I am looking at it, there was some questionable skate to skate contact. I don’t think Gomez knowingly tried to injure Ryan Miller.
Sitting in a tie with the New York Rangers and surprising Florida Panthers, the Sabres will now have to rely on backup netminder Patrick Lalime, another casualty to the curse of the Buffalo Backup.
