Lalime has strong game, Sabres fall in OT

Lalime is proving to be capable of handling the stressors of the Buffalo crease.  What is dooming Buffalo is their inability to score.

In the last two games against the Carolina Hurricanes the Sabres have managed 1 goal, and have allowed 5.  Against a team that is not as good as the Sabres, this is not acceptable.   If the Sabres are going to make the playoffs, they have got to beat the teams that are below them in the standings, and you have to have an offensive showing to do it.

You are not going to win games when the only guy on your bench that scores is Patrick Kaleta.  It further goes to show that the Sabres are in desperate need of the return of their leading scorer, Thomas Vanek, who could be back as early as next week, although in a limited role.

The Sabres did manage a point out of the affair, and can help their case to stay in the top eight by playing a perreniel loser in the Islanders on Saturday.  I think a loss to the Isles will be a sombering adventure; and will really take a lot out of a team that is trying to make the playoffs.
