There is nothing worse than watching your team fall out of the top eight playoff spots this time of the year. It is even more depressing when they do it while not playing.
The Sabres fell further out of the playoff picture, as they continue to get little help from the out of town scoreboard. They now sit in tenth place, two points behind ninth place Carolina, and three points behind the eighth playoff spot, held by Pittsburgh.
The good news in all of this though is they are only four points behind fifth place Montreal, so anything is still really possible.
Buffalo is sitting in the last “Bubble” spot, as teams below them, Toronto, Ottawa. Atlanta, NY Islanders, and the Tampa Bay Lightning are for all intents and purposes just playing out the season.
