Change not going to come from management

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

For anyone looking towards change for next years Sabres team, some of the same old same old will be back.
Lindy Ruff will be back for a 12th season behind the bench, and Darcy Regier will be once again pulling the strings from above.
With that in place, let us hope the wheels are turning in several heads on ways to make this team better – through the edition of new players, and the elimination of a lot of dead weight that has been hanging around the Sabres locker room.  Hopefully the disgust of being the first team in the history of [...]

End of the Road in Buffalo?

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Players, Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Sabres have lost a lot in the last few years to free agency, this year, the list does not look so daunting:
Dominic Moore was acquired by the team at the deadline to help with overall team toughness and faceoff help.  If the price is right, I would not mind seeing him stay on here in Buffalo, his valuable time in the league, even though it was with the step-children in Toronto will help groom future prospects as they come up from Portland, and the Sabres can always use help on faceoffs.

Even Max admits that is time to go. [...]

A Season in Review: Problems at the Top

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

Where Mr. Golisano have you been the last two years?  Have you not seen your darling children in Buffalo fall apart?  In the two years after the lockout there wasn’t a night when you were saluted on the jumbotron – waving from the owners box.  As the team continues to put in 10th place seasons, we have a better chance of seeing the Regis in the halls of the arena again before we see you.  In your absence, fans see you throwing money into political battles trying to win one for the small guy, when all everyone wants from you [...]

Post Season blues….

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

Now that its officially over, and had time to sink in, the post season blues are beginning to set in.
After Saturday, the NHL seems like a foreign friend, someone whom you think your friends with, but whom talk behind your back when your not around.
I know, it hurts, but we are a resilient bunch here in Buffalo, and will withstand any sort of weather to trudge down to the arena next year for one more try at it, despite all the bad things we have to say about the boys in blue in gold.
It [...]

With that..the season ends

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

The New York Rangers picked up the points they needed tonight to secure themselves a playoff spot, mathematically eliminating the Buffalo Sabres from playoff contention.
Now is the time to take a closer look as to why the Buffalo Sabres have missed the playoffs again, and the wondering of what will go on down at the harbor this off season.
All that is left is fan appreciation night, as the Sabres will say farewell to the fans that do show up downtown Buffalo to see the Sabres play the Bruins.

Buffalo stays alive, but could be short lived

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Sabres continue to help themselves limp into the playoffs, beating the Hurricanes 5-1.
There was a loud click as that game ended as everyone in Buffalo turned to watch the final five minutes of the rangers game…..it doesnt look good.

Sabres finally taking care of their own business

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Sabres are up three nothing on the Hurricanes, probably one of the hottest teams in the league right now.
I got a little excited when I saw the three nothing score, until I checked in with the out of town scoreboard. The Rangers are blanking Philly 2-0.
Both the Sabres and the Rangers are playing like they want to make the playoffs right now, unfortunately the Rangers only need one point to do it.

Sabres hold on for one more day

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Game Night, Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Sabres beat the Leafs last night in order to hold onto the hope of a post season berth. Tonight they will continue to live on that string of hope as they hope to beat a Carolina Hurricanes team who is 9-0 in their last 9 starts, and are coming off a 9-0 whooping of the Islanders.
At the same time the Sabres face off against the Hurricanes, many eyes will peer towards the out of town score board, as the Rangers take on the Flyers. For the first time in a long time, more people in Buffalo will [...]

Sabres pushed to the brink

AUTHOR: Tim Redinger | IN: Sabres | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Rangers beat the Canadiens last night, and are one point away from eliminating the Buffalo Sabres. It may not matter what the Sabres do in their last three, if the Rangers merely make it into overtime in one of their remaining games, the Sabres season becomes meaningless.
It all hangs in the balance, the Sabres no longer hold their own cards, but can help their hand by continuing to win, just in case.
