Getting excited for the NHL entry draft is like getting excited to go have a root canal done. We are already at the point in the draft where it will be two to three seasons if not longer before these players are NHL bound.
The Islanders started the night of in typical fashion, taking the highly touted John Tavares. While right now he will sign a rookie maximum deal, if he scores 20 goals this season they will be talking at least a 15 year extension worth probably more than the Pheonix Coyotes entire franchise is worth. What a way to kill an aspiring young players career before it starts.
