Kane gets off with clean record
Explain to me how a minor, under the age of 21 can leave the downtown area of Buffalo that late at night, assault the cab driver over twenty cents, and then get off by writing a mere letter of apology to the cab driver?
For those that have known me long enough, you will recall my senior year of high school. On the last day of school, my best friend at the time and I arrived the earliest we could when we knew the doors would be open. We methodically went up and down the halls of the senior high school [...]
Trading Shots with Senshot
One of the best rivalries going to in the Northeast right now is Buffalo vs. Ottawa. In that spirit, I traded questions with Chris over at Senshot.com. Click here to read my responses to his questions.
Here is Chris Q & A:
1. Regardless of who is better in the standings, Buffalo or Ottawa, the Sens always have our number. Why do you think that is?
Prior to the lockout Buffalo had our number, but since the lockout the Sens have been the dominating team going 20-6-4. The games seem to be wide open style hockey with 4,5, which suited Ottawa better than [...]
For the longest time, the Buffalo Sabres had a shut down goaltender. They could roll mutliple lines, and they were going to grind you down.
And then the league changed. Flash and dash was the new color, and the Sabres were the right hue. They spent the lockout season becoming what encompassed the new NHL.
And now the NHL has returned to the olden days. No I am not talking about bench clearing brawls or New Jersey Devils trap, but the game has slowed down considerably since the first years out of the lockout.
GM Darcy Reiger has toyed with the notion for [...]

Sabres add Jeff Cowan
So the Sabres signed another left winger. Jeff Cowan. Guess where he played last year? AHL. How many AHLers does Darcy Regier think we need? Lets take a look at the Free Agent Signings so far:
Jeff Cowan – played last year in the AHL. Has 81 points across 8 NHL seasons. Really? We signed a guy who is gonna add 10 points? Wow – no wonder we can’t contend for the Cup.
Mike Grier – NHL. I can’t really get on board with Grier being back. I liked Grier, but he left amidst swirling heated topics that he didn’t feel the [...]
After watching the Sabres coast to two straight Eastern Conference Finals appearances, it has been a guy wrenching experience the past two years. Finishing tenth two years in a row with nary a positive change to the team or the management.
The Sabre do have a bright spot though, like the Bills having Bobby April and the number one Special Teams in football, the Sabres have Jim Corsi coaching the goaltenders. The Italian Olympian always seems to have something going right in the blue paint.
But will the boys in Blue and Gold be able to “break the ice” this year? Returning [...]

It seems that a summer off in Buffalo after making a run into the playoffs has gone to the head of South Buffalo native Blackhawks front man Patrick Kane.
Apparently Patrick Kane and cousin James Kane did not appreciate the fact that there cab driver could not make change for $15.00 for a $13.80 cab fare.
Now wouldn’t it make more sense, when you make the kind of money Kane does, to not quibble over twenty cents? Nah, taking all fifteen dollars back, they then struck the cab driver, and broke his glasses. You can check out the full article about the [...]
The Buffalo Sabres put the nail in Andrew Peters coffin today, signing former Colorado tough guy Cody McCorkmick.
Last year with Colorado McCormick registered 12 points, while amassing 92 penalty minutes.
In other signing news the Sabres deepened their depth chart at goaltender signing ECHL netminder Jean Philippe Lamourex.
Lamoureux (8/20/1984, 5’10”, 155 lbs.) spent last season with the ECHL’s Alaska Aces, where he was named the league’s goaltender of the year. Lamoureux led all goalies with a regular season record of 33-16-2, and set an ECHL record with eight shutouts. He was also second in GAA at 2.29. He followed that up [...]
