Thank the lord, weeks turned to weekend.

Posted by: Tim Redinger

The prognosis last night was not good, the Sabres were going to lose their star forward for weeks.  Like I wrote the other night, we were a Tim Connolly concussion away from a typical Sabres season.

Instead of losing Thomas Vanek for weeks, it looks like he might be ready by the weekend.  This is amazing news for a team that just found its scoring touch.  While Vanek may not be in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Islanders, he could be back on the ice for the Atlanta game.

Last season Vanek was pacing Alex Ovechkin for number of goals before his injury sidelined him.  With two goals last night, he is easily behind the pace this year, but on a young offense that just found its way, who know what could happen, I’m just glad we will see number 26 again this weekend, and not in a few weeks.
