When it rains, it pours

A very dark cloud hung over the arena tonight, and for forty minutes of play – it seemed destined that the bad luck was destined for the Buffalo Sabres.  The final period of play had the Carolina Hurricanes waving warning flags, and eventually, white surrender flags.

Down 1-0 going into the third period because of a terrible Tyler Myers rookie mistake; the Sabres led by a Tyler Myers 3 assists defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1.  Thats 10 goals scored against Carolina in the third period in the last two games.

Ryan Miller again continued his league leading play, making several key saves, especially an amazing one on Rod Brind’amour.  It was Miller’s play that kept this team in the game until the offense woke up and decided to win the game.

Don’t be mistaken, the Sabres offense did not win this game tonight, their five goals was gravy, Ryan Miller is definitely the winner of the game puck.

Tyler Myers definitely deserves some kudos, after coughing up an ugly give away that put his team down, he did not let that shake him and was thrown right out there for the next shift.

Jochen Hecht had a career night, it’s to bad Uwe Krupp was in attendance, but he should be watching this game.  Playing out of character to help the team, Jochen Hecht was seen scoring, assisting, and even hitting tonight.

Thomas Vanek will hopefully use tonights goal as a springboard into scoring goals on a regular basis.  Vanek wth only 8 goals on the season, is playing well under his potential.

The Sabres look to continue their winning streak with a rare Monday game at Toronto.
