What a weekend to be in Buffalo, for me at least. I was working on a four and a half day weekend, the Sabres are on a winning streak, the Bills throttled the Dolphins, and then Monday comes around. Damn I hate Monday.
The only good thing that comes from Monday is, well for the first time in a month the Sabres play on a Monday night. And what better team to bring about such a change in the schedule than the woeful Leafs.
The magic number the Sabres have to continue thinking about tonight is 6. Six times in a row they have been victorious in Toronto, Six times they have beaten the Toronto Maple Leafs. Only six times the Leafs have won this year. Sounds like it could be a six goal night from the way I am seeing it!
Expect to see the lines that you saw in the third period against the ‘canes, because well, that is what is working right now. Don’t be surprised to see some more juggling if Lindy doesn’t get the production he thinks he should be getting.
Ryan Miller is expected to get the nod again tonight. to continue to defend his league best goals-against average. He has been the All-Star for the Sabres, keeping them in games they had no business being in. His saves the other night against Carolina probably helped spark the 5 goal third period that won the game.
The Toronto Maple Leafs need to do something to start turning this season around. Here are some of the, well I was gonna say good words around Toronto, but for now we will just call them words.
The guys over at Pension Plan Puppets don’t have to much to say about the game, so they are featuring a satirical article on the return of Lee Stempniak to Buffalo to play his hometown team. In 10 career games Lee has 1 goal, 2 assists, 10 PIM, and is a -1. It might be nice for Lee to skate in HSBC Arena, but he is definitely not going to win the Leafs any games against the Sabres.
Frozen Leafs thinks that two games against the Sabres and Montreal will have the Leafs contending for a playoff spot. HAHAHAHAHA.
While going through my memory banks of worst hockey movies ever, my nuerons misfired and a I had a Maple Leaf brain fart – the only way the Leafs are going to win is if they get a new head coach, and my mind stumbled on the best candidate for the job:
Actually, in this picture it looks more like Gary Bettman using Mr. Troyer and some old guy as a ventriloquest act to make the All Star Game more “fan friendly”.
On a side note, please jump over to The Arena and vote for Sabre Noise in round One of the Arena’s blog-off. Last time I looked we were holding on to a slim first place lead, so vote for us! And while you are there, check out some of the other teams pages and vote for other Fan Sided NHL blogs.
