The Sabres started off their seven game road trip on the right foot, grabbing two points from the Atlanta Thrashers.
The Sabres have opened up a ten point lead in the Northeast Division, topping Boston by that margin. While the Northeast might easily be in hand for the time being – if the Sabres continue their winning ways; they can challenge for the best record in the league once again.
Ryan Miller continues to shine, and he will have the chance to continue his brilliant play tonight against the Islanders. His opponent tonight will be the returning Rick Dipietro – despite having to overcome an injury that kept him out of the lineup for most of the first half of the season, he is only a .500 goaltender against the Sabres. He looked a little rusty in his first game back – and the team is hoping he shakes a little of that off in his second start.
The last time the Sabres travelled to the island a 5-0 route awaited them. The Sabres are hoping that the fourth and final meeting between the Islanders and Sabres goes in their favor.
Ryan Miller is not the only Sabre having a career year. Tim Connolly has played in a high number of games this year, having not missed a contest. he is also riding a 15 point (5 goal, 10 assist) ten game streak.
Sacrificing sleep to watch this one, have to work at midnight – so going to get a quick nap in to be up for the game. If the Sabres are getting beat pretty bad, I’ll probably head back to bed, but that hasn’t really happened lately, so I am anticipating losing the sleep.
