Sabres Gamenight: Ottawa Senators

Posted by: Tim Redinger

In comes the giant.  The Ottawa Senators come into HSBC arena tonight, not only on a nine game winning streak, but a seven game winning streak against the Sabres.

The Sabres are no stranger to streaks either, sitting on top of a 12 game point streak at home.
Someone’s streak has to come to an end.  Given the play of both teams, and the recent history between these two clubs, its likely the Sabres won’t walk away from this one with two points.

Trade rumors continue swirl; Niclas Wallin, Ray Whitney, and Kovalchuck could all have new homes before the Olympic break.  So far though, the Sabres have been no where close to being in on any of the deals.

Brian Elliott versus Ryan Miller could be a great matchup – If Miller plays like the Vezina and Hart candidate of the first part of the season, and not his recent play.

The Sabres need to figure out how to get some offense going against Elliot, who has Vezina like numbers throughout this dominant span.

Tonights contest is a battle between two Northeast Division giants, a look at the numbers makes it seem more like David vs. Goliath.
