Sabres Gamenight: Detroit Red Wings

You get better at sports by learning from your Mistakes.  Minnesota lost to Detroit, after Detroit jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, Minnesota couldn’t recover.  The Wild returned to the ice the very next night to repeat that performance against the Buffalo Sabres.

Tonight, the Sabres will look to recapture a little of that fortune as they start a five game road trip.  The last time the Sabres went on this type of road run, they didn’t fair so well, and it took them the entire Olympic break plus some to get out of it.

Ryan Miller will be back behind the team tonight, but the Sabres once again face a foe that wants it more than them right now.  You can see it in their game, they are sitting atop first place in the Northeast (not by much though) and there game reflects it.  There is no urgency to win games, if they get the points great, if not…well we have some room for error.  Instead of trying to fine tune this team for a playoff run, the Sabres are limping in on the success of an early season run.  Detroit on the other hand can jump into the West playoff picture with a win tonight.

This is the time of the year desperation wins close hockey games, the Sabres better find it.
