Goaltender Search 2010

While the Buffalo Sabres as a team are looking forward to a playoff run this year, management should not forget about the void at the backup goaltender position.

One option that is prevelant, is bringing Jhonas Enroth up from the Portland Pirates next season, and allow him to learn the NHL game from the bench, as opposed to getting maybe one NHL start on callup duty.  The question there will be though, is the Swedish netminder ready for the NHL?

If you want to look to put a veteran netminder behind Ryan Miller for a little stability, you may not have to look but to Marty Turco.  After a ten year run, the Dallas organization has said they will not resign the goalie for next season.

Could you get Turco? Possibly for a price.  After years of trying to win with the Stars, he just might want to go somewhere he can contend and win – but he may also want a starting job – or even get more than 10 games a year.  With a quality backup, Ryan Miller might get a bit more rest during the lengthy 82 game schedule.
