If you looked at me just a few days ago and told me the Philadelphia Flyers were going to play in the Stanley Cup Finals I would have laughed at you. But here they were tonight playing in a Game 7 after dropping the first three games of the series to the Boston Bruins.
Tonight, my wife and I were kidless, as my daughter spent the night at Grandmas. Luckily my wifed picked a nice restaurant/sports bar so I could watch this historic game.
I wasn’t upset when she was done and ready to go soon into the game, because the Bruins had gone up 3-0 and looked to be blowing by the Flyers in the final game.
Not only did the Boston Bruins blow a 3 games to none lead in the conference semifinals, but they blew a 3 goals to none lead in the final game to give Philadelphia a berth against the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Tonights win put the Flyers into some special company, becoming only the third team in the history of the NHL to win a series after trailing 3-0 (1942 Toronto Maple Leafs and 1975 New York Islanders).
Check back tomorrow as I unveil the Sabrenoise picks for the Eastern Conference FInals and take a quick look back at how my picks faired in the conference semis.
