While Sabres fans are watching to see who will be annointed this year’s champion – the Sabres organization are already re-tooling for next year.
The Sabres have come to terms with free agent forward Mike Grier. This will continue Grier’s second trip back to Buffalo for at least one more year.
Brought back to bring a little toughness to the Sabres on the ice and leadership in the locker room, the one year deal turned into a success. In the playoffs Grier was undoubtedly the best Sabres – with two goals and a team leading 33 hits.
Grier was set to be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and could have entertained offers from any team in the league.
Resigning here again could be viewed as a good sign, as Grier left town in the first place because he didn’t like the way things were going.
