While most are preparing to spend the following hours drinking and enjoying some BBQing with friends and family (as well as Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals), let us pause a moment and give thanks to all those who have served, veterans past and present who have given the last measure of devotion, those that have fought, bled, and died for the great principles, truths, and freedoms that this great country was founded on.
- Freedom, is not free. We should never forget that. The moment we as a collective nation forget about the high cost of freedom, we will have lost the very fabric of our core.
- Veterans did not volunteer to serve for the few fringe benefits that they receive; nor did they do it for public recognition on national holidays. They did it becuase something inside of them told them that they had a job to do. The life of soldier, sailor, airmen, and marine is not for everyone, those that can live that live are a special group of individuals.
