Why Philly will win in 7

It just makes sense.  Neither team has been in the finals for a very long time.  Neither team has won it in an even longer time.

So why am I so certain that the Chicago Blackhawks will not win the Stanley Cup in 2010?

Its not hatred for the team – I am a Sabres fan, so I hate all other teams equally.  And hell, for that matter, I hate the Flyers more than most other teams (they are in a close second with the Boston Bruins).

It’s not because they have dominated in this series – frankly this series has been everything that it was played up to be, a tight, even series.

Its not because the ‘Hawks don’t have Stanley Cup experience in their locker room.  John Madden was a member of the Devils 1999-2000 and 2002-2003 Cup teams, and Tomas Kopecky spent enough time in Detroit to earn a highly coveted ring.  So they have guys that have won hockey’s ultimate prize.

Its not because the Flyers deserve it.  No team deserves to win the Stanley Cup until they have won 16 post season games.

Philadelphia though can just have fun.  They are not supposed to be here in June.  They are a seven seed; they have overcome great odds to get here, slipping in the playoff picture on the final days of the season,  knocking off Eastern Conference powerhouse New Jersey in five, and coming back from a 3-0 deficit against Boston in the quarter-finals.  Who shuts out the Canadiens in three of five games in the Eastern Conference Finals?

Chicago is supposed to win.  Chicago should win.  Just not this year.  It comes down to gripping the stick to tightly, being under that pressure.  Philly is just enjoying the run; and so they should – all the way into the record books.

Danny Briere said it himself, they are a team built to win big games.  Its time to put your money where your mouth is Danny.
