Sabres open to both Tallinder and Lydman

In a conversation today with Sabres beat reporter Paul Hamilton, Darcy Regier told him that the Sabres organization is open to having both Henrik Tallinder and Toni Lydman return to the team for the right price.

In other words, the Sabres are looking for a discount when it comes to signing both restricted free agents.

Right after the lockout, there were no better defensemen on the blue line for the Sabres than the pair of Lydman and Tallinder.  After just two seasons though, the pair needed to be split up, and neither played up to form after that.

This season Henrik Tallinder played alongside rookie sensation Tyler Myers – and both Myers and Tallinder benefited from the pairing.  I would not mind seeing Tallinder brought back to play alongside Myers again.

Lydman played much of the season alongside journeymen Steve Montador, and that pairing was costly for the Sabres on many occasions.

For the right price, I wouldn’t mind seeing Lydman playing for another team.  Preferably back out West.  This team has had three years together and has accomplished very little.  It’s time to reset certain pieces to see if something different can be accomplished.
