My "sports holiday": Opening Sabres game night

So here I am. I raced home from my mundane 9 to 5 office job and my heart is pounding. Opening day for the Sabres is possibly my favorite “sports holiday” ever. My giddiness is child-like and my anxiousness is palpable. I have prepped for game day by pulling over my Pominville “shersy” (shirt/jersey), drinking the finest Rochester brewed beer (Genny Cream Ale) and ordering my favorite chicken wings in all of Western New York (Mr. B’s).

My excitement is barely containable. The only better feeling than I’m about to experience is being at the game itself– unfortunately Ottawa is several hundred miles away and student loans permit me from having any fun. However, now that I properly prepped for game day, I hope the Sabres will deliver and make my night perfect. Sure, I’ll be sippin’ on some sodas after the game with some friends, but the night will be that much better if the Sabres rip apart the Senators.

And before I forget, let me justify my Pominville “shersy”. I think Pominville is going to have an outstanding season this year and I’m hoping by me wearing this thing it will come to fruition.  I hope my prediction is not a pipe-dream and it will completely justify this horrid thing.

Also, fortunately Ottawa doesn’t have a pure number 1 goalie, so we may see some shaky goaltending and Jason Spezza could possibly be out of the lineup.  Both these facts swing the Sabres to the favorites side. I hope all goes according to plan and we are treated to a spectacular game tonight.

Enjoy everyone and cheers!
