It is with great sorrow that I write these words, but the world lost a great man today.  Jim Kelley died today after battling pancreatic cancer.  For thirty years he covered the NHL and the Buffalo Sabres, contributing to ESPN, The Buffalo News, and FoxSports. Thank you for the memories Jim, and rest in peace.  Your influence on the game will always be remembered.

The Sabres have yearned for a great captain to take charge and lead the team to Stanley Cup Glory. Philadelphia is loaded with talented leaders such as Danny Briere. Our arch nemesis Boston too is equipped with good, hard working players. And then there’s the Sabres, a team full of…..bland. The Buffalo Sabres have pulled a .500 month out in November, leaving them with a sub .500 record, and sitting just above the Toronto Maple Leafs for the last spot in the Northeast Division and five points out of the playoffs.  Whats happening around the league? Four of your Buffalo Sabres prospects have made it on the Team Canada training camp roster for the IIHFs U20 tournament to be held here in Buffalo.  Team USA will announce their preliminary roster on December 7th.  Ducks fans have a new jersey that was unveiled.  Sue over at our Anaheim site has a picture posted.  [...]

Nope, were not talking The Riddler here, or reporting sightings of Batman and Robin at HSBC Arena, but rather pointing out the number of question marks on the Buffalo Sabres roster.  What Lindy Ruff and Darcy Regier commonly refer to as the “core” are nothing more than role players dressed up as stars, this team having nothing special that will put them above and beyond other teams in the league, which is necessary in order to be King of the Hill come June.

It is amazing how refreshing it can be to have a serious few days off of work to reset the body and mind. We’ve all heard the myth about tryptophan right? You know, the chemical that turkey has that supposedly is the reason why everyone gets so tired after eating it? Well, although the myth is just a myth, I still like to place the blame on it.  Maybe the Sabres just enjoyed an early Thanksgiving dinner.

Despite dropping a 1-0 contest last night to the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Buffalo Sabres have given us lots to be thankful for over the years. 1. As the Sabres prepare for the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight – the question has to be asked.  Is there a backup goaltender controversy brewing in Buffalo? Lindy Ruff was quite clear that his confidence in Patrick Lalime wained even more after his gaffe directly resulted in the loss against Tampa Bay – despite him playing well for the other 59 minutes of the game.  With Ryan Miller likely to miss tonights game against the Pens, the Sabres could give the nod to Patrick Lalime, who has yet to win a game this season – or go with Jhonas Enroth, who by [...]
