Well, the Sabres are playing bad hockey and who knows when or if they’ll break out of the slump. Tonight the Sabres play the stingy defense of the Boston Bruins, who have only given up a staggering 11 goals in their first 8 games this season. This is troubling for the Buffalo Sabres due to the fact that they have struggled to find twine so far this season. Fortunately, the Sabres get an offensive boost from Jason Pominville, who was recently deemed symptom free from a concussion sustained early this season.
However, as one returns another leaves and for the Sabres’ misfortune it is superstar goalie Ryan Miller. Although there is no time-table for Miller’s lower body injury, it is being reported by nhl.com that he will be day-to-day. As for the goalie tonight, none has been reported. Jhonas Enroth was recalled from the Portland Pirates where he has played less than spectacular; however, Lalime hasn’t played particularly well either. It will be interesting to see who gets the nod tonight.
We do know who will be in the opposite net against the Sabres tonight. Tim Thomas whose job was supplanted by then rookie Tukka Rask last season has regained his starting position. Tim Thomas has an astounding .50 GAA and a .984 save percentage and he was recently named second star of the week by nhl.com.
Hopefully the Sabres will get the train back on the tracks tonight and find a way to break through the Bruins’ tough defense. Puck drops at 7 tonight.
