Capital Appreciation

The Buffalo Sabres should be thanking the Washington Capitals tonight when they face off in our nations capital.  The only loss so far in November for the Capitals came at HSBC at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres – it was not only the first time the Capitals lost in November, but it was also the first home game that the Sabres had won.

The Capitals returned to their winning ways shortly after the Sabres game; and the Sabres have done their fair share of winning since then as well.  They look to extend their current winning ways tonight – which could be very difficult given the fact that The Capitals are running away with their division.

It might be a good idea to let the Capitals get as many points as possible now.  Follow the jump to find out why.

Concern should be on the minds of the Capitals management with the division setup the way it is.  One of the downfalls of the Capitals last year was they shifted into low gear so early in the season, because they had things wrapped up so early – they couldn’t throw the switch back on in time, and Montreal trumped them in the first round.

If the Sabres can continue to put forth the effort like they did against Washington and Vancouver – this team could salvage what was a pitiful start to the season.

Before I go, I am going to ask this, because, well – I haven’t asked it in a few days.  IS TIM CONNOLLY GONE YET?

If they are going to someone turn this ship around this year, Connolly needs to go.  Just take a simple look at the stats for the team.  Mondtador is tied in points with Connolly (Montador has one less goal, one more assist) and Connolly is an embarrassing -7!  Wondering where Montador falls in the plus minus?  How about first on this team, (followed by Ennis and Roy).  Montador is the only Sabre with a double digit +/- rating, which at 13 puts him atop the league as well.
