There’s no special jerseys tonight, the throwback is the fact that Versus has decided in their infinite wisdom not to broadcast the Buffalo Sabres and Anaheim Ducks tonight. Instead they are going to feature the New Jersey Devils and Washington Capitals.
I can see why this close to the Winter Classic that is going to feature the Washington Capitals that Versus would want to capitalize on the hype, but here are my two biggest issues with the game not being on television tonight – one, its 2010, haven’t you figured out how to broadcast games in separate markets? For a network that specializes in rodeos, fishing, and hunting, the redneck technology to simulcast games in separate markets must be to hard to figure out. Secondly, you have nothing to do with the Winter Classic broadcast on New Years Day, who cares if the Capitals are on television a week and a half before the big event.
So instead of picking apart a game that I can’t see on television, I figured it was time to sing some Christmas Carols. If you don’t like my version of Winter Wonderland, Check out Sue’s version over at Ducks Daily
Halfway through, the hockey season,
The Sabres Suck, and with reason,
Tim Connolly blows,
Craig Rivet knows,
This team aint winning hockey games.
Come along, another off season,
Darcy Regier, should be hung for treason.
Lindy Ruff is still here,
What the hell is there to cheer,
Another losing Buffalo hockey season.
Drury’s gone, Briere’s winning.
Post season dreams, are quickly fleeing.
Our golf games real strong,
Derek Roy wears a thong,
Ryan Miller deserves a better team.
Ok, so I might sound a little cynical tonight, but start winning some games and I might be in a more festive holiday spirit.
