Buffalo Sabres Offense Can't Save Miller Against Avalanche

The Buffalo Sabres have scored 10 goals in the last two games.  With a typical Ryan Miller in net, the casual fan would assume that the Buffalo Sabres are on a hot streak, and the Sabres offense is blowing teams out night after night.

Wait for it……

Wait for it…..

Wait for it…..

Now that you are done laughing hysterically, let me remind you that the Ryan Miller we are seeing this year is playing more like Patrick Lalime, and that despite scoring 10 goals in the past two games, Ryan Miller has allowed 10 goals in two games, and the Sabres are 1-1.

The Buffalo Sabres just dropped a decision in Colorado in overtime, as Ryan Miller was again bailed out by his offense, but they couldn’t score enough to overcome the offensive outburst of the opponent.

The two game winning streak is over; but a point streak remains, as they pick up the one loser point tonight.

The score sheet gives Peter Budaj 37 saves, but he actually only had 36 – Tyler Ennis actually made the save on Luke Adam late in the third that probably would have given the game to Buffalo – unless Ryan Miller allowed Colorado to tie the game again.

While you can’t fault Ryan Miller for every single goal he has let in, he has played in about half the amount of games he has averaged the past two seasons, and is already on pace to allow more goals.

The Sabres need to put some points together in this Western Conference swing – needing nine heading into tonight to catch eighth place in the Eastern Conference.  In just about 48 hours, they will have a chance to grab two more points out West, as they face the San Jose Sharks at 10:30 (UGH)PM Thursday.  Its actually good for me, as Rink Side Rants will run from 9PM to 10PM this week, as Frank Rekas from The Rat Trick joins me once again as well are going to be entertained by Angie Lewis of All We Do Is Puck, and The Hockey Writers as she fills us in on the experience of a lifetime, The 2011 Winter Classic that she was able to be a part of.

Should be a great night, so do like me on Thursday, and don’t stop the coffee at lunchtime on Thursday, your going to need a lot to make it all night.
