Yesterday was an uneventful day for the NHL for blockbuster trade deadline deals; however, the Sabres did make possibly the biggest splash by acquiring former 40 goal scorer Brad Boyes. The Sabres today embark on a 7 game road trip with their newest hired gun today when they go into Madison Square Garden and face the NY Rangers.
This game has obvious importance since the Rangesr are within reach for the Sabres to surpass in the standings. The Rangers are only 5 points ahead of the Sabres in the standings and they have 3 games in hand, which makes this game very important.
There is no doubt the Sabres could have done more during the trade deadline, but they did fill an important area that needed to be addressed by acquiring Boyes. Offense has been inconsistent and hopefully Boyes can help create a little more consistency and help the Sabres win a very necessary game.
