Game Six – Quarterfinals – An Easter Spectacular

Never saw you look quite so determined before
Never saw you work quite so hard what’s more
I could hardly wait to keep our date this lovely Easter afternoon
And my heart beat fast as I came through the door

In your Blue and Gold Sweater, with the Sabres on it
You’ll be the grandest team in the Easter playoff game

I’ll be all in blue and gold and when they look you over
I’ll be the proudest fan on this Easter today

On the Avenue
Washington Avenue
The photographers will snap us
And you’ll find that you’re
In the rotogravure

Oh, I could write a sonnet about your Blue and Gold Sweater
And of the Flyers we will send home, this Easter playoff game.

Ok, so maybe that doesn’t work for the Easter Song, but you get my point.  At 3PM today, the Philadelphia Flyers face elimination from the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs.  Now that does have a wonderful ring to it.  We have seen two different Buffalo Sabres show up.  An undisciplined group of playoff ragtags who have tried to run and gun with the Flyers, and a defensive minded strong team that has shut down the prolific offense of the Flyers.  We need that strong defensive minded team to show up this afternoon and wrap this game up in six.  (Remember, on Rink Side Rants I picked the Sabres to win in six before the playoffs started.)

I tried pulling the migraine card, but no dice, so I will be at the in-laws during the game today, but fear not! I have downloaded the WGR app and will be listening via ear bud during dinner.  Thats right, I said it – its out there.

A very Happy Easter to all who celebrate the day!
