While I would never post a rumor as quick as it’s being reported, Darrin Dreger of TSN is reporting that defenseman Robin Regehr of the Calgary Flames has been asked by Flames management to waive his no movement clause, and accept a trade to the Buffalo Sabres. Regehr, 31, has spent his entire playing career with Calgary, playing in over 800 games and accumulating a +30 rating over that span. The 6’3″, 225 lb. defender has long been linked to the Sabres in rumors, and would be a huge acquisition for a team looking to bolster it’s defensive awareness.
There is no word on who, or what, the Flames would receive in exchange for the defensive defenseman.
Dreger is also reporting that Regehr was told of the deal yesterday, but hasn’t been given a deadline, or timeframe, as to when Buffalo needs an answer.
More on this as it becomes available.
