There are conflicting reports that Calgary Flames defenseman Robyn Regehr has apparently declined to waive his no-movement clause, and will not be headed to Buffalo. The Sabres had worked out a trade with the Flames, with the only hurdle being Regehr’s decision. The decision that he had declined was reported by a Calgary radio station, but there are reports that he has not closed the door on the move.
With the 1st round of the NHL entry draft tonight, there could be some trade activity on the draft floor.
If he has, in fact, declined to accept a trade to Buffalo, color me disappointed, as I feel Regehr would have been the perfect fit for a Sabres team that struggled mightily in it’s own zone last year. Darcy Regier may have to move on to plan B, and who that is, is anyone’s guess.
