Buffalo Sabres Sign Ville Leino

News has just broken that the Buffalo Sabres have signed former Philadelphia Flyers player Ville Leino.  Reports are that the deal is for six years, $27 million dollars.

Does this mean that the hunt for Brad Richards has us back in the cabin while others are out on the hunt?

Does that name sound familiar you?  It should, Leino scored the game winning goal in Game Six on Easter Sunday this year that capped a Flyers comeback and was the straw that broke the back for the Buffalo Sabres in the post season.

Leino is not the number one center that we were looking for – but he does add depth to the center position, but it still leaves Derek Roy as our number one center.

The Leino deal puts us at the cap, so there is still some moves that need to come.

Hmmm, should I write another fun parody song like:
Remember Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me?”
Could update it to “Leino On Me”:
When you’re not strong, And I’ll be your friend,
I’ll help you carry on, For it won’t be long
