Oh Pegula

Ok, so I am no poet, but I think the Pegula era has done enough so far in this short off season to prove that Hockey Heaven exists, and that we should be singing praises for the man who didn’t have to come in and save the franchise, but who came in to make the franchise a winner.

The true dog days of summer are here.  The month of July we saw free agency pop and fizzle.  August, we will still see some random signings, but for the most part, the world of hockey is on vacation.  Guys are enjoying some much needed time off, and are hopefully staying in shape this off season.  There are going to be some battles come training camp – especially in our now deep defensive corp.  The team is built.  We have some pieces to move around, but whose ready for October?

I’ve heard there was a secret play
That Sabres played, and it pleased the Fan
But you don’t really care for losing now, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The playoff run, the Cup to lift
The baffled fan wanting Oh Pegula

Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula
Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula

Our faith is strong but we want proof
You spend your money to the roof
Hoping talent builds good roots,                                                                                                       You tied us to a winning belief
You broke the bank, and cut the chains                                                                                            And from our lips you drew the Oh Pegula

Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula
Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula

Terry we have been here before
we know this room, we’ve walked this floor
We were promised winners before we knew you.
I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
Buffalo has not had a victory march
It’s a cold and lonely, Oh Pegula

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There will be a time and we’ll let you know
What’s really going to make us blow
But now we have no reason to show it to you, now do we?
I remember when I moved in you
The feeling was lost, now I am moving too
And every breath we drew was Oh Pegula

Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula
Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula

Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from Buffalo
Was how to yell shoot at someone who outdrew you
It’s a cry you can hear at night
It’s not too often we have seen the light
It’s a cold and lonely Oh Pegula

Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula
Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula

You say I took the name in vain
I don’t even know the name
But if I did, well really, what’s it to you?
There’s a blaze of faith in every word
It doesn’t matter which you heard
The new and happy oh Pegula

Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula
Oh Pegula, Oh Pegula

You do your best, to try and touch                                                                                                    that winning feel, you didn’t come to lose us
And even if it all goes wrong
I’ll stand before the arena and sing this Song
With nothing on my tongue but Oh Pegula
