HSBC No More

It seems only fitting.  We have entered a new era of Buffalo Sabres hockey, new owner, new players, the inside of the arena is getting a facelift.

And now, the outside of the arena will be getting some minor changes.  With the firesale going on at HSBC – the latest thing the bank has shed in the Buffalo region is it’s association with the Arena.

What started out as The CrossRoads Arena in 1996 and quickly turned into Marine Midland Arena (and then HSBC Arena when the company rebranded its image), the 15 year old home of the Buffalo Sabres is getting it’s fourth name.  First Niagara Center.

Team President Ted Black will be making an announcement today (Thursday August 25th) at 2PM, making the change official.  The announcement will be broadcast on the Sabres Website.
