September Previews: Dallas Stars

I can’t believe how long its been since that fateful summer.  No Goal.  While the words still ring loud down main street, echoing off the buildings downtown over and over again, the fact of the matter is, it was  lifetime ago as far as professional sports are concerned.  Long gone are the players that played on those teams (a few might be still hanging around here and there) but for the most part, Youtube videos and fading memories are all that are left from the Buffalo Sabres vs Dallas Stars Stanley Cup Final.

Today we look at the Dallas Stars in our Look around the NHL in 30 days.

Last season the Buffalo Sabres and Dallas Stars played just once, and it the game had more emotion than a typical East vs. West game.  These players were playing like there was something personal on the line, almost reincarnated images of the teams that faced off over a decade ago, with ill wishes and rage filled plays.  The Buffalo Sabres gave up seven power play opportunities and lost a 4-0 contest.  While we look back at this contest, it was one of the last games that Patrick Lalime played for the Buffalo Sabres.  While the team in front of him offered little support; the team was treating the game more like some pick up shinny with the hated boys across town as opposed to a night to pick up two points en route to the playoffs. Last seasons contest was played in an October this Buffalo Sabres team would want to forget.  This years sole contest with the Dallas Stars come in mid February, with the Stars visiting First Niagara Center on February 10th.

Checkout what Austin Waldron has to say about the upcoming squad of Dallas Stars in the official September Preview on the Fansided Sports Network.  Since its already September 11th as I publish this, check back later today for the link to the Detroit Red Wings season preview.
