Sabres Send More Down I-90

The Buffalo Sabres announced today that 16 more players, including 2009 first round pick Zack Kassian, Marcus Foligno, Ales Kotalik and Shaone Morrisonn, have been reassigned to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Kotalik and Morrisonn cleared waivers at noon Monday.

The players sent down today are:

Forwards Foligno, Kassian, Kotalik, Jonathan Parker, Michael Ryan, Colin Stuart, Corey Tropp, Phil Varone and Derek Whitmore; defensemen Morrisonn, Brayden McNabb, Joe Finley, TJ Brennan, Dennis Persson and Drew Schiestel; and goaltender Drew MacIntyre.

According to the team, MacIntyre, Persson, Ryan and Stuart all have to clear waivers before they can report to Rochester.

Interestingly, in MacIntyre’s case, pending waivers, he will report to the Amerks, but will report back to the Sabres before the team heads over to Europe. Teams going over to Europe as part of the NHL Premier games are allowed to carry three goaltenders in case of injury.
