Happy Halloween Sabres fans. While we started out the season with a team that was winning games practically at will, we find ourselves mired in a slump that has us yearning for something a tad bit better. There are teams that are obviously doing much worse than our beloved Buffalo Sabres, but expectations with the new owner, and a handful of new players brought on specifically to infuse a winning mantra into the locker room have not helped – at least on the homefront this year.
First Niagara Center is our house, it should be a place where we are entertained to treats on a nightly basis, and this year the road team has been fairing far greater in offering tricks for the Buffalo fans to swallow. The slump will be broken, its just a matter of when and how that is the question.
October 2011 presented the Buffalo Sabres with a start overseas – and six wins. It has us seated for now, comfortably in the middle of the pack for playoff teams. Comparing that to last seasons nasty start, where we only were able to hit the win column three times. Yes, the play this year looks unacceptable at home, thankfully the road record has afforded us with some points in the standings – but overall the team is on pace to end with a much better record.
November is upon us. Last November had us win six games. With 14 games on the schedule this November, it is unlikely that the Buffalo Sabres can double their games won like we did in October, but there are plenty of opportunities to gain ground on the teams in front of us, and push back those behind us.
To end October, a little Halloween treat, this guy has way too much time on his hands, but hell, he does a good job at it, and I look forward to seeing his new videos every year.
