As the Buffalo Sabres prepare for tomorrow nights contest against the Calgary Flames, enjoy the below articles about the team, the NHL, and pop culture in general.  Check out the link for Flame for Thought as well.  We have a new writer over their covering the Flames, and she is doing  a bang up job for us over there.

Need a rapid dose of numbers to appease your fantasy stat fix?  Check out the By the Numbers segment from last nights game, courtey of Die By the Blade

I could probably string together a great list of post game reactions from all over the internet on last nights game against the Flyers, which if you look at the game as a whole, wasn’t all that bad.  It was really just a poor opening 7 minutes that put us behind.  Brandon over at BuffaloWins.com puts an interesting spin on the Miller/Enroth situation in his article here.  I don’t agree with him.  He wants Miller to ride it out and see where it gets us.  I would be sitting Miller until Enroth’s game fizzles out.  Your going to win more that way than with Ryan Miller at this point.  Listening to WBEN in this morning, the word on the street is Miller had a bad game.  WRONG.  Miller is having a bad stretch of games.  There is no trading either of our goaltenders at this point for a number one center, that trade just doesn’t happen.  But to let Miller continue to play should be out of the question until he gets his mind right.

Around the NHL

Montreal fans probably have a list of dissapointments this season, atop of many peoples lists has to be the play of Mike Cammalleri.

An interesting look at officiating from John Panarese.  I personally will just continue to play my complimentary copy of Three Blind Mice by the Fourth Blind Cousin.

Hockey is a game full of passion and emotion.  What will it take for John Tortorella to channel that emotion into a championship for the New York Rangers?

How many people are still confused over the new hits to the heads penalties/suspensions and fines being handed out by the NHL?  Jared Crozier puts together his case based on the Alfredsson hit

I can’t stand the Philadelphia Flyers.  Plain and simple.  Never have, never will – and it had nothing to do with last nights game.  Rightfully so though. Eugene is a good friend, and he never dissappoints on a good read.  I couldn’t really bring myself to actually read his comments on last nights game – so this is more of a shoutout and a reason to say publically that I hate the Philadelphia Flyers.

Again, same thing.  Toronto Maple Leafs.  Never liked them.  Never will.  Not sure how they got so good so fast.  Every team goes through ups and downs.  For a long time, and I mean a long time, TML was down.  Didn’t expect this year to be so up for them.  Hoping its an early season fizzle and they pop just about the time when other teams start taking the game serious.  You want Toronto to slow down?  Tell everyone in the league that Kessel wont pass and the Leafs will stop winning.

Thats it for today.  Tomorrow we will take a walk through the Western Conference.  Only seems fair.
