Tonight the Calgary Flames skate into the First Niagara Center to take on the Sabres in what will be Robyn Rehgers first meeting against his old club. It will also be Chris Butler’s first time back in Buffalo since the trade. It should be an exciting match up to watch
The Sabres will be playing without Patrick Kaleta as he was suspended my the NHL for 4 games after he head butted a Flyer during the first period of the Sabres 3-2 loss on Wednesday night. So with Kaleta out, Lindy Ruff had to make a call to The Sabres University for a replacement. He called on Cory Tropp, who will be wearing number 78. The first Sabre in history to wear that number, he will be making his first career NHL start. He Tropp will bring the physical presence that Kaleta usually brings. I would expect him to be on the fourth line with Gaustad and McCormick.
Jhonas Enroth will get the start tonight, which everyone thought he would. Ruff said that this was a scheduled start, which means that he had decided before Wednesday’s game that Enroth would be playing in tonights game. He also said that Enroth could play in back to back games, which makes me wonder if he will also play tomorrow night in Ottawa. We will have to see how tonight goes.
I do expect a Sabres win tonight, with the score being 4-2. Goals from Pominville, Vanek, Gaustad, and Tropp. Just my guess but I think that the kid Tropp will have a good game and the Sabres will come away with a much needed 2 points in front of an antsy home crowd. I hope the Center is rocking tonight.
