As the Calgary Flames make their first trip to the newly-named First Niagara Center tonight, Sabres fans should recall at least one familiar name on the opposing team – Chris Butler.
Butler, who was often the odd man out on defense when he played in Buffalo, has played in all of Calgary’s 11 games. He has no goals and 3 assists with a -2 rating.
Pairing up with Jay Bouwmeester, Butler is third on the team for average time on ice at 20:46.
Last season with the Sabres, Butler played 49 games, ending the season with two goals and seven assists, and an average ice time of 18:10 per game, which was sixth on the team.
Also making a return to Buffalo is former Sabre Cory Sarich, who was drafted by the Sabres in 1996. He suited up for 46 games with the Sabres between 1998 and 2000.
