Amerks beat Binghamton

In front of a sold out crowd of 4710, the Amerks beat the Senators in Binghamton tonight, 3-2.

The victory is a sweet revenge, after losing to the Sens 3-1 in Broome County Arena just 6 days ago. The lone Amerk goal scorer that night, Corey Tropp, spent tonight making his NHL debut for the Sabres.

Rochester shot out of the gate tonight, gaining an early 2-0 lead in the first 2:33 of the game from goals by Jacob Legace and Zack Kassian. This moved Kassian into the team lead with 8 points in 11 games this season. The Senators scored halfway through the first period to cut the lead to 2-1.

Again in the second stanza, the Amerks came out firing, with Marcus Foligno netting his 4th goal in 9 games, only 1:33 into the period. This was enough to secure a victory, as the Sens only posted one more goal in the game.

The Amerks outshot Binghamton 35-31. David Leggio picked up the win, improving to 3-3 on the season with a 2.92 GAA and .902 save percentage. Recently demoted Robin Lehner took the loss. Joe Finley dropped the gloves twice.

Rochester is now 4-4-2-1 this season, sitting one point behind the first place spot in their division. The Amerks weekend continues on with a home-and-home against Syracuse. Game time in ‘Cuse is 7:35 Saturday, and 6:05 at the Blue Cross Arena on Sunday.
