By the Numbers

The season is now almost a month in; here’s a look at how some of the Sabres players stack up against the rest of the league.

  • Thomas Vanek is tied for third in the league with eight goals. He is tied with Giroux, Lupul, Michalek, Pavelski and Eriksson.
  • Jason Pominville has 10 assists, good for 4th in the league (tied with Daniel and Henrik Sedin, St. Louis and Edler.) Vanek is tied for 6th.
  • Andrej Sekera is tied with a number of players for 2nd in the league, with a plus-8 rating. Komisarek, Souray, Wideman, Wilson, Phaneuf, Kane, Seguin and D’Agostini are also +8.
  • Derek Roy has a 58.5% faceoff win percentage, good for 6th in the league. Paul Gaustad is 9th with a 56.8%.
  • Vanek has 16 points so far this season. He is tied for 3rd league-wide with Joffrey Lupul and Nicklas Backstrom.
  • Of his 16 points, Vanek has 10 points at home (5-5), which places him at 4th in the league in that category.
  • Luke Adam is tied for 2nd in rookie scoring with four goals.
  • Adam leads the rookies with 7 assists, and is tied with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for the point lead (11).
  • Vanek has three power-play goals (tied for 2nd) and two game-winning goals (tied for 3rd.)
  • Of goaltenders who have played two or more games, Jhonas Enroth is 3rd in GAA and save percentage.
  • The team is tied for second in regulation/overtime wins, with eight.
  • The team also leads the league with a 93% penalty kill.
