Amerks Lose to Crunch

The Amerks, playing the second game of back-to back-to back games, fell to the Syracuse Crunch on the road last night, 5-2. They play the Crunch again at home today, with puck drop set for 6:05 at the Blue Cross Arena.

The teams exchanged goals in the first period, ending at 1-1 with 11 shots on goal each. Jacob Legace scored for the Amerks, his second goal in as many nights. The best line of the period for Rochester was that of Marcus Foligno-Paul Szczechura-Zack Kassian, with the trio just missing on cashing in a pair of goals.

In the second period, the Crunch began to absolutely control the game. The Amerks failed to score on multiple power plays, including a 5 on 3. Meanwhile, the Crunch scored two power play goals, leaving the Amerks down 3-1 at the end of two. The Crunch dominate the shot count, 14-7.

In the 3rd, both teams scored once, with Marcus Foligno getting the Amerks goal. Amerks lose, 5-2.

Foligno and Legace are now tied for the team lead with 5 goals in 10 games for each. Drew MacIntyte took the loss, dropping to 1-4-1 with a 3.31 GAA and a paltry .877 save percentage. Szczechura now has two points in his first two games, both assists. Joe Finley leads the Amerks in PIM with 29, and Derek Whitmore leads in +/- with a +4. Rochester remains one point behind the Toronto Marlies for the division lead.
