I don’t know what this team needs but something needs to happen soon, they can’t keep losing these tight games. Maybe they just need to get healthy. Boyes, Myers, Hecht, and Ennis have been out for a lengthy amount of time but the Rochester boys have really stepped it up. Vanek did not play in the third period, the team was reporting an upper body injury. If Vanek can’t go for a period of time Darcy Regier, Lindy Ruff, Terry Pegula, and the coaching staff are going to have to make some decisions. Vanek is one of the few guys that have been consistent to this point, losing him would be a huge blow to the team and would put even more pressure on Pominville, Roy, and the rookies.
Maybe you start shopping Roy, Stafford, and Gragnani, they have not produced as hoped and you could maybe get a guy like Paul Stastny from Colorado or Bobby Ryan from Anaheim. Something needs to happen, the team cannot keeping losing if they plan on making the playoffs in April. They played this bad last season and snuck into the playoff, they are going to have to turn a switch if they want to do the same in 2012. Miller played well tonight and gave the team a chance to win, he just needs a little more from his forwards and defence. Leopold had a few slips tonight but has been the most consistant Sabres D-Man, McNabb played really well tonight and I have been pleasantly with him since he got called up.
The Sabres will now get 3 days off for Christmas and then play the 26th against the Capitals inside the F’N Center. Hopefully the team can come back after their short holiday and start winning some hockey games.
