Ehrhoff is gone for weeks which means that the Sabres had to call upon Rochester for another defenceman. TJ Brennan will be making his return to Buffalo. Brennan has been one of the top defencemen for the Amerks this season and hopefully he can preform like he did the last time he got the call.

Nathan Gerbe could make his return to the Sabres line up tonight. He will be dressed for warm ups, but Ruff will make the decision after the skate. Having Gerbe back could help the Sabres offense, which has been struggling. I shutter to think what this team would be like without Vanek and Pominville, it would be a lot worse.

So what do the Sabres need to do to start winning some games? There is nothing they can do about the injuries, but there are things that can be done. The first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is a trade. If you were the GM for a day who would you put on the trade block and who would you go after? The three guys for me would be Roy, Stafford, and Gragnani. They are good players and I have nothing against them but I think a change would be good for both sides. Stafford and Roy have been great at times but they are two of the guys that try to make a simple play fancy and both have been very inconsistent. Gragnani is the only defenceman that makes me extremely nervous when he has the puck, anywhere on the ice. Last night when he blindly passed the puck back into his own end where it was intercepted by a Capital, if it wasn’t for a Miller save the score would have been 4-1. Lately it seems the only team Gragnani helps is the opposition.

Something needs to change and change fast because the season is half over and the Sabres are falling behind in the playoff race. Let’s hope 2012 is better to the Sabres!
