Healthy Sabres?!

This article is going to have a few different angles so stick with me. Let’s start off with the Sabres, shall we.

It looks like the Sabres are finally getting some of their key guys back. Tyler Myers, who has been out with a fractured hand, could play tomorrow. He has been cleared by team doctors for full contact, although Lindy Ruff has not confirmed if Myers will play or not, it may be a game time decision. Tyler Ennis and Ville Veino are also close to returning. Earlier in the week it looked like they could both return Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets but Ennis had a little set back this morning in practice and Ruff said he has been put back on the day to day list. Leino on the other hand is unlikely for Saturday but is not far away, hopefully he will play Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs inside the Air Canada Centre.

The Sabres will face the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow at the RBC Center and with the MSG/TWC battle still no where near settling, thousands of fans won’t be able to see the game at home. The Sabres have decided to throw a viewing party at the First Niagra Center, they are trying to create a game like atmosphere. The HD Video Screen will be lowered for a better viewing angle, Doug Allen will sing the National Anthems, parking and admission are free, the first 3000 fans will recieve pop and popcorn vochers, half off beer, I even heard the kiss cam may make an appearence, and the Sabres Store will have extended hours. Hopefully those who can’t watch the game at home go down to the F’N Center, I know I’ll be there.

Here’s where we switch gears. The NHL relased the starting line up today which was voted on by the fans. Ottawa is hosting the event this year and the Senators will be well represented, Erik Karlsson (defence), Danny Alfredsson (right wing), Jason Spezza (center), and Milan Michalek (left wing). Dion Phaneuf (defence, Toronto) and Tim Thomas (goalie, Boston) were also named to the starting line up. The league will determine the remaining 36 players and from there the captains will be named. My guess is that Alfredsson would be one of the captains. The teams will be selected by the captains in the Fantasy Draft on January 26. The Skills Competition will be held on the 28th with the game following the next night.
