It’s not a laughing matter when your a fan of the Buffalo Sabres, but the road losing streak stands at 12. Listening to WGR550 this morning, Jeremy White gave us another hockey joke to wrap our minds around involving the Buffalo Sabres.
What do you call 13 losses in a row? A Sabres Dozen.
The magic number could climb to 13 tonight when the Buffalo Sabres travel to the Prudential Center to take on the New Jersey Devils, who after winning five of six, have dropped their last two contests.
The Devils last two losses have come against two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers. A contest against the Buffalo Sabres might just be what the doctor ordered for the Devils to snap their funk. It could also be a good omen for the Buffalo Sabres, if they can jump on the Devils early and take advantage of a team that will be limping into the contest looking for a win.
The most glaring statistic for the Buffalo Sabres in the road skid is the fact that they have been outscored 50-17 in those games, Ryan Miller in net for 10 of those games says the team just needs to find its confidence.
Goaltending is not the only problem, gaps in defense and a lack of scoring have the Buffalo Sabres limping into tonights contest.
If the Sabres can somehow snap this losing streak, it gives the team something to work towards after the NHL All Star Break – as the team will finish up it’s road trip with a game in Montreal after the break. Without their Captain Jason Pominville during the break, the team will have to look to its other leaders to keep the team focused during the break, either keeping their minds away from hockey so they can come back refreshed, or keeping the team motivated to continue to work at snapping the streak.
