Multiple sources are reporting that the Buffalo Sabres have traded Paul Gaustad to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 1st round draft pick.
The 6’5, 225 pound Gaustad was in the middle of his 7th full season with the Sabres.
As an alternate captain with Buffalo, “Goose” had been a fairly reliable player and fan favorite. He was consistently in the top 10 in the NHL at faceoffs, and was a sound defensive forward.
The 30 year old Gaustad should fit in perfectly with the defensive-minded Predators, whom currently sit in 5th place in the Western Conference.
Nashville showed their commitment towards the playoff push by also making moves for Hal Gill and Andrei Kostitsyn.
Gaustad notched 164 points in 423 regular season games for the Sabres, and 8 points (all assists) in 38 playoff games.
Hopefully, Nashville fans will “honk for the Goose” just as heartily as we did in Sabreland.
