Sabres Send Down Foligno and Tropp

Today the Buffalo Sabres sent forwards Marcus Foligno and Corey Tropp to AHL Rochester. The Americans are pushing for a playoff spot with about a week left in their season. Currently the Americans are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff race, in 11th place with 77 points. The 8th place team in the Western Division is the Houston Aeros who currently have 79 points. The Americans have five games left on their regular season schedule against the Hamilton Bulldogs, Adirondack Phantoms, Grand Rapids Griffins, Syracuse Crunch, and Lake Erie Monsters.

Foligno has played in 14 games with the Sabres, showing most of his success in his recent stint with the team. He has scored 6 goals and 7 assists in his time with the big club, impressing tremendously. In 55 games in Rochester this season Foligno scored 14 goals and 20 assists.

Tropp has played 34 games with the Sabres mostly on the bottom line, but recently has been with Thomas Vanek and Cody Hodgson. Tropp has scored 3 goals and 5 assists in Buffalo. In Rochester Tropp scored 7 goals and 10 assists in 22 games.

The other players the Sabres have called up, Brayden McNabb and T.J. Brennan, are needed for the Sabres final game of the season against the Boston Bruins due to injuries. Once the Sabres season is officially over it is expected that both of these players shall be sent to the AHL as well. The Americans are being led currently by Derek Whitmore, who has scored 27 goals this season, and Paul Szczechura, who has 19.
