Buffalo Sabres fans can now rejoice at the fact that not only is legendary play-by-play man Rick Jeanneret returning for another season, but he will be calling all 82 games for the Buffalo Sabres this season. Jeanneret made the announcement today on the Sabres Hockey Hotline on WGR550.  Last season he called less than half the away games for the team, stating that the travel was becoming difficult with his increased age. Kevin Sylvester filled in as the play-by-play man while Danny Gare filled in for color commentator Harry Neale.

Jeanneret has been calling Sabres games for 41 years over radio and television. This year he will be inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame as the winner of the Foster Hewett Award. He is also a member of the 2012 class of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.

Earlier this off-season the Sabres announced a few changes when it comes to the broadcasts. Jeanneret will be calling games with Rob Ray serving as the color commentator. Neale moves to the intermission and post game show with Brian Duff. Kevin Sylvester is now the host of the Sabres Hockey Hotline, hosted from the Sabres store from 10-12 every weekday. The show is streamed on WGR550, and is where Jeanneret made today’s announcement. The whole interview can be listened to here.
