The Sabres may or may not be done this offseason. Darcy Regier was just on WGR with Mike Shopp and spoke about free agency, saying that they have not reached out to Alex Semin or his agent. However, Regier has contacted Shane Doan’s camp, saying, “I have reached out to his agent,” but, “that’s going to play out with respect to the Phoenix situation and with respect to a lot of other interest from other teams.”

Doan’s agent, Terry Bross, told the Arizona Republic that 11 teams have expressed an interest in signing Doan, an unrestricted free agent whose priority has always been to return to the Coyotes. However, Doan wanted to wait until at least Monday to start his negotiation process because that is when he hopes to gain more clarity on the situation surrounding Greg Jamison’s bid to buy the Coyotes.

Doan’s Agent spoke to Kuklas Korner and mentioned that the Sabres have reached out to Doan. So add the Buffalo Sabres to the long list of teams that have shown interest in unrestricted free agent Shane Doan. Terry Bross of Lagardere Unlimited confirmed with today that there have been discussions with Buffalo regarding his client. “We have been in touch with the Sabres,” Bross said. “At this time, we have not narrowed the list of teams down that we will consider.  I expect that might happen tomorrow.” Bross wouldn’t elaborate on which teams are expected to make the cut, but other mainstream media reports have not mentioned the Sabres as likely to be one of Doan’s final choices.

Doan, 35, remains capable of bringing size, forechecking ability, 20 goals and leadership to a contending team’s top two lines, though his skating has declined.
