The results of our last poll gave the Buffalo Sabres organization a resounding A for their efforts at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft for selection Zemgus Girgensons and Mikhail Grigorenko in the first round.
Since then the Buffalo Sabres have added John Scott, traded Derek Roy to Dallas for Steve Ott, and made some other minor moves to a size and grit to their organization – which to me was almost as important as adding a number one center or a stud player. The fact that Derek Roy just announced surgery and that he would be out until at least November makes that deal even better – which means the Dallas love affair with our once locker room headache will live on until at least Christmas.
Our next poll outlines the managements ability to revamp this team into a winner. How would you grade the management on a summer that hasn’t really lived up to the wow factor that we saw last off season.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t need the team to get crazy every summer – but have they one enough to get back into the hunt for Lord Stanley? I think the Buffalo Sabres are still a couple of impact players away from really contending for the Stanley Cup. Granted, the Los Angeles Kings just won the Stanley Cup as the eighth seed – but thats the first time in the history of the tournament that any team outside of the top eight teams total have gone the distance. Until its done more consistently – I don’t want to subscribe to the school of “just get in”.
